Laser modules and components – fiber-coupled lasers

Laser modules and components - fiber-coupled lasers

Modulight offers lasers as components and modules in commonly used packages. Demanding applications often require  packaging where mechanical and environmental requirements are addressed in such a way that connectivity is secured and robust. Laser modules are available with diversified package, wavelength and power range.

Product and package categories

  • Fiber pigtailed coaxial modules, DFB or Fabry-Pérot lasers, which are available within 1310–1650 nm and various output power and packaging options
  • Butterfly packaged lasers, fiber-coupled or receptacle type, 630–1650 nm
  • Multi-chip modules in 630–1550 nm, small and compact module with high output power from 100, 200 or 400 μm fiber
  • TO-can packaged lasers, various packaging types and lasers throughout the whole Modulight wavelength range 400–2000 nm.

Modulight also provides the customization service, where we address application specific requirements and create customized laser solution. Please fill in the custom product inquiry to let us know your special needs.

Coaxial laser modules

Coaxial laser modules product range includes products designed for both analog and digital applications. Some applications demand a DFB type laser whereas some others need a Fabry-Pérot laser. Each coaxial package series has also options which include different pin layouts, single-stage or double-stage isolators, flange geometry, and optical fiber connector type.

Customer referral: ESA (European Space Agency)

Fiber pigtailed laser diodes are used in European Space Agency (ESA) – for the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) satellite which was launched on 2nd of November 2009. Modulight lasers, designed and manufactured in Finland, are an essential part of the optical harness of the MIRAS (Microwave Imaging Radiometer using Aperture Synthesis) instrument in the satellite. Modulight supplied >70 lasers to this instrument that controls the synchronization of the distributed microwave antenna elements of the satellite and thereby the whole remote sensing functionality.
