Tampere, May 18th, 2004 - Modulight, Inc. (Tampere, Finland) announced today two new laser products for Cable Television (CATV) and other applications requiring analog transmission of signals in optical fiber.
ML-COAX-1310-FP-AL-3 is a coaxial fiber pigtail module with 1310 nm MQW Fabry-Pérot (FP) diode laser based on a proprietary MOCVD and MBE grown epitaxial structure. The laser operates with 3 mW out-of-fiber optical power with 40 mA typical forward current. The device is available with and without isolator. With isolator minimum optical isolation is better than 30dB.
Second product - ML-COAX-1310-DFB-AL-3 - is a coaxial fiber pigtail module with 1310 nm Distributed Feedback (DFB) diode laser composed on equally robust MQW core design that results in reliable and high performance operation over the whole lifecycle of the product. The device has minimum Side Mode Suppression Ration (SMSR) of 35 dB and typical wavelength temperature coefficient of 0.08nm/deg Centigrade. At 40 mA input current, the device has typical optical output power of 3mW similarly to its FP counterpart.
Both products are available immediately in production quantities for shipments worldwide. Since early this year Modulight has shipped sampling quantities to several beta customers. Datasheets of the products can be downloaded from Modulight website's products page:
